The Three Sisters of Jingdi Village, a 93 minutes-long documentary, is about a small mountain village named Jingdi in the Taihang Mountains. For centuries people in this village has been isolated from the outside world, and life for them has been the same generation after generation.
Today the villagers are still living a plain life as their ancestors. Recent years saw the changes in the village. In pursuit of a better life, most men in the village have gone to the cities to do odd jobs, leaving their wives and other women staying at home to keep everyday life going, therefore you can find here an amazing scene of women domination the social life.
Every change from 1999 to 2003 in the village has been captured in this film. You can find in this film the local custom of Nuwa, the Goddess in the ancient Chinese legend who mended the sky and was worshipped by Chinese people, the traditional temple fairs, even hearing their folk songs. The film also tells you how people prepare for Spring Festival, how they grind grains.
