In the evening of July 7th, 1976, Tangshan City and areas around were covered with surging heat wave. Driven by the torturing weather, many people came out of home to streets to enjoy the cool up to late night. However people did not realize that a terrible move was occurring in the lithosphere under Tangshan City. The huge energy caused by the lithosphere moves was collected and held in store in rocks for such a long time that rocks supporting the ground before was near to collapse and rupture. Time went on second after second. Suddenly a thunderous sound came near afar and resounded over Tangshan City. The catastrophe came in a flash at three forty-two fifty-three point eight in the morning. The 7.8-grade earthquake was so severe that the ground shocked seriously and building could not bear the powerful strike. As a result, the whole city was drowned in sounds of collapse and cracking. There were 900 thousand people, about 630 thousand of whom were buried or trapped by the fallen houses. After the quiescence for a short time, people lightly injured or buried in shallow places climbed out of the ruin continuously from every corner of Tangshan. Without any organization, they formed an aid team spontaneously and began to save their relatives, neighbors, colleagues, friends as well as strangers. At the moment of disaster, a large-scale action, saving themselves and others began.
