Rong Mansion was built strictly according to 'the Dream of Red Mansion', which is the famous classical novel of China. It is a group of buildings imitating Ming and Qing dynasties' architectural styles. It includes two parts, the mansion and the street. The project began to dig up the lot in December1984 and completed in July 1986.
Rong Mansion covers the total area of 22000 square metres and the area of the building is 4700 square metres. It has 212 chambers and 102 galleries. The mansion is separated in three roads. The middle road is the official yard of Jia Zheng and it adopts serious royal style of color painting. The east and west road are the internal resident yard and they adopted Su Zhou style of lively colour paintings. Indoors there are elegant carving and furniture with the style of Ming and Qing dynasties. It includes 23 scenes, more than 150 figures and 1600 antiques, ancient calligraphy and Paintings. We takes on a palatial picture—'poems, paintings and stone carvings of the Dream of Red Mansion'in the back houses and invited about 200 famous artists such as QiGong, Zhang Aiping, Huang Qi, OuYang Zhongshi and some state leaders, such as Huang Hua, Liao Hansheng, Wang Shoudao, Wang Renzhong to write inscription.
The memorial of Cao Xueqin, where there are 23 rooms, is located in the southeast of Rong mansion. It covers 960 square meters. The memorial, which has a large number of pictures and material objects, describes Caos family's historical process from flourish to depression. It has great significance to promote the fine aspects of traditional Chinese culture and enhance our pride as a nation.
