The story of the film takes place in pre-Revolutionary Russia, St. Petersburg in 1914. The film is surrounded around a classic love-triangle. A well-to-do lady of means - Aglaya Chugueva - is married to a retired artilleryman. The husband is so in love with his attractive wife to the point that he doesn't even realize what is going on. He doesn't even notice that Aglaya has a lover, a very rich manufacture by the name of Andrey Vahlakov, who also is married. His wife (Sonechka) is expecting a child. In addition to all of this, Madam Chugueva has one more romantic flame, a professor – the ornithologist Pavel Marusin, who loves her with all his heart. However, Aglaya doesn't return his feelings, as she is wrapped up with Vahlakov. And so it happens, one day Aglaya and her secret lover through some kind of mix-up tragically allow the key to their apartment in building №5 on Taurian St. where their romantic rendezvous take place to wind up in the hands of Aglaya's husband. Unbelievable adventures, scandals, arguments, reconciliation, hot and juicy details from the personal lives of marriages and even duels await the heroes of our story. Shooting on location took place in some of the most beautiful places in our country: the duel, for example, was shot on the coast of the Gulf of Finland. In the region called 'Repino', just outside St. Petersburg; the film crew rented an old summer cottage modeled after typical interior from the 19th century, and in Moscow some shooting took place at one of the streets in the Arbat district.
