On February, 17th, 1991, when the first Crossing the 'Desert of Death'----a highway in Taklimakan Desert started, many people alleged one after another that: even this highway was completed, it would be buried by the daily moving sand dunes.
This documentary records the process of two painstaking experiences when building the highway and expanding green coverage. Chinese engineers show great wisdom and spirit to struggle against hardships and difficulties. It also explores and applies a series of technologies of sand fixation, road construction as well as windbreak, sand fixation and plant technology created only in China. This guarantees the safety and free flow of desert roads. With further progress in the endeavor of sand protection, they begin to explore a new area --- Desert Eco-industry, pursuing their way in the virtuous cycle.
