"Warm Autumn" describes the hard experience of a great mother and represents the theme that a mother must be strong while a woman is fragile.

The scene of the story was laid in a small town of the early 1980s. Ma Xin-yue who was pregnant before marriage received her boyfriend Zhao Jian-kang's fare-well letter from the battlefield, which came as a bolt from the blue. Overwhelmed by the pressure of the traditional view, she surrendered to despair and committed suicide. However, things always didn't come out right and she was saved by someone. For twenty-five years, Ma Xin-yue had suffered all the sufferings and hardships, and now her son Ma Sai grew up. However the advent of Ma Sai's grilfriend Fan Yu-tong pierced her heart like a sharp sword, and took her spiritual support away. The contradictories and conflicts between her and daughters-in-Law made her feel very confused and lonely and helpless.

The affairs of the world are inconstant. Zhao Jian-kang miraculously appeared. Twenty-five years' hardships and sufferings made Ma Xin-yue have no mind about what to do facing such big change. Zhao Jian-kang told the truth that at that year he kept his love deeply in his heart and took upon the responsibility of taking care of the company commander's unstable family. Ma Xin-yue was deeply moved by such a good man who thought so much of the friendship and could bear such heavy burden. The departure before twenty-five years was a bad knock to her while the late happiness after twenty-five years still made the mentally and physically exhausted woman feel great happy.

Finally they held their wedding that has been postponed for so many years. But Zhao Jian-kang fell sick for the ravages of the war and deep guilty. He fell in Ma Xin-yue's arms. At that moment, under the ginkgo tree in warm autumn, they huddled in the sunset. It is so beautiful.
