Brief Introduction of the Story
Ancestral temple is a sacred place for the family. and in patriarchal times, the ancestral temple is also a woman forbidden.

In the late of Ming dynasty, the eldest grandson of former Xie -Xie zhi qing and the eldest grandson of latter Xie -Xie zhi cheng , who have common ancestor but different clan, held the grand wedding ceremony together in Xie ancestor memorial hall, which represents the unite of clan and the union of brothers.Xie zhi qing was suddenly injuried by falling hall plaque, which casted ominous shadow over joyful fellowmen of Xie clans.
Zheng xiu yun, whose father is a principal of a theatrical troupe,had an innocent affection for Xie zhi cheng in childhood. But Zheng married Xie zhi qing(cheng’s borther) by mistake. Zheng qin and Zheng cheng went out on business when Zhi qing had been just recently married. So just like the other wemen in Huizhou, Xiu yun has begun the endless wait of her husband.
The former Xie, represented by the Father-in-law of Xiuyun, with the latter Xie, the Sanye as the master had been struggling both open strife and veiled for the master right of the zong ancestral. The scholar had tried many times but failed. Then he put all his hope to his youngest son who had been treated as the most talent boy. Although the latter xie, sanye had three sons, he cultivated eldest son, zhangsunxie carefully .
The fight of the former and latter xie family was getting more and more obvious with the admission of him getting to be an officer. Therefore, the former xie scholar invited zhengzhimeng, the father of xiuyun to conciliate. Zheng brought out his newly made script, in the hope that they would finish all these by watching the drama. However, his daughter yufen went with the singer in the theater.
During the normal life, the country lady xiuyun encountered with an unusual test of life. The heavy burden of hosting a family had got on the 20-year-old lady. His brother-in-law, zhixiang had depended on her so much for his illnesses. Yufen was about to sentence to suffer the “sinking” because she broke the rules of the entire family. During that time, his husband zhiqing went out for years, and when he came back he brought another wife with him. Then zhixiang got the admission of being an officer, the scholar got insane and yufen pretended to be a man to join the theater. Just at that moment, zhiqing got an accident when his business flourished. … How time flies, the xie ancestral had a blessing and praying ceremony which were hosted by the two xie. Admitting one and another member of the xie family, Meanwhile, the ladies who were forbidden to get into the ancestral were waiting silently, their hard work and speechless prayers took all their youth and beauty, their hair turned gray.
Twenty years passed like making a move, the scholar father-in-law who was over 80 years old had completed his xie’s family record with his tens of years’ hard work. As the former xie got really happy, sanye assembled the latter xie people to criticize on the family record, and swore to solve all the unsolved problems in the history of the xie family. When the two xies were fighting with each other, zhicheng who had been a wealth man got back. He told the villagers that lichuang prince got into Beijing, the chongzhen emperor suicide himself for the country, and the man minority had stepped into shanhaiguan.
All the villagers who hadn’t stepped out of the village got really worried about the country. Just then, zhixiang who died eight years ago got alive again, and he appeared in front of xiuyun. After the happiness and excitement, the xie’s got to know that zhixiang became the mayor of weizhou, and he brought the first command:to cut hair.
The later generations of the two xies wanted to kill zhixiang for kicking him out of the family, meanwhile sanye and the scholar had met an dilemma for the safety of existence of the xie family. A great ceremony which hadn’t been appeared before had become the pure words that the xie’s expressed to their ancestors. The two sent off a pure era by their passing away, and it had hidden an gradually adapted truth of the history.
The story was not over till here, after xiuyun buried his father-in-law, she received the award from the emperor, and this was definitely the result of hard working, xiuyun accepted it and thanked to the emperor, he put the children to zhicheng, and he made the contract with him for the next round of life, and then went to the capital city herself to see zhixiang.
