Two young American travelers, Nickel and Christine, start their first journey in China by train. They see the ongoing great changes in this Eastern ancient country through the north-south journey from Beijing, the capital city, through Zhengzhou, Changsha,to Guangzhou along the Beijing- Guangzhou railway. From visiting the Forbidden City to boating on the Yellow River, from climbing the Great Wall to studying Kongfu in the Shaolin Temple, from talking to the workers, farmers, businesspersons to communicating with the college students, they obtain a better understanding of the Chinese life and society. They are also impressed by the gorgeous landscapes, long history and delicious Chinese food. Will Christine eat fried scorpions? Does Nickel know how to use the chopsticks? Let's go on aboard and start the journey with them.

Riding Rails in China was awarded the Telly Documentary Award and Telly Excellence in Directing for Documentary Award of the 26th Annual Telly Awards.
