"You Are My Life" tells a story about a mighty mother Pei Shu-ling (performed by Sarina) who suffered many mishaps in her life. Because of her husband's untimely death, she had to bear the burden to raise her only son. She dedicated all her life to her son without any complaint. To protect her son, she went through all kinds of hardships, and could try every means.

In a forest farm in the early 1980's, little Sang-yan had followed his father to watch for his mother who reformed-through-labor several miles away for many years. But unexpectedly, his mother went off with her relatives back to the town without saying good-bye as soon as she left the prison. And his father still didn't get back after nightfall, little Sang-yan went out to look for him. Beside the rail, little Sang-yan witnessed the most horrifying accident in his life-the train engulfed his father and screamed past. When Pei Shu-ling finally found her wandering son in starvation and exposure, all she saw was Sang-yan's hatred to her… From that moment, she knew the most important thing in her life was to warm her son's heart.
