The story unveils with Nie Kai and Zhou Nian-Zhong, two best friends in Hai Nan. Though not related in blood, Nie Kai and Zhou Nian-Zhong who grew up together were closer than brothers. They took friendship higher above anything else until the day where a girl named Mo Jia-Qi walked into their life and opened a new spectrum of their emotion.

With Mo Jia-Qi’s appearance, their formerly colorless life was then blooming with joy and glamour. The two boys at their best age fell in love with her at the same time. Nie Kai was very aggressively pursuing Jia-Qi while Nian-Zhong appeared to have something else on his mind.

Jia-Qi and Nian-Zhong’s fondness of each other was gradually growing. Yet because of Lian-Rui’s interference and a sense of responsibility for Nie Kai, the two never confessed their feelings for each other although they both knew. Meanwhile, Bi-Xia’s illness was growing serious and insisted on Nian-Zhong’s accompanying her to Shanghai. What Jia-Qi and Nian-Zhong did not know was that the separation would be forever. Shanghai was the home of Bi-Xia’s sister Bi-Yun, Nian-Zhong’s biological mother…

Life with the Tang’s was not going well for Nian-Zhong. He refused Bi-Yun’s care for him and did not get along with Bi-Yun’s husband and son, Tang Qi-Shang and Shi-Jie. On Jia-Qi’s birthday, he secretly went back to Hai Nan only to witness by accident Nie Kai celebrating Jia-Qi’s birthday and confessing his feelings for her. Thus Nian-Zhong went back to Shanghai, as if half dead, with his shattered dream. Later he accepted Bi-Yun’s advice to study abroad in London and left home where there was no more joy and happiness.

In London, Nian-Zhong met spoilt Ling Pei-Yu who took him in with her. On the eve of one Lunar new year, Nian-Zhong’s dumpling made Pei-Yu filled with tears of nostalgia. As days went by, the time they spent together with each other made the affection for Nian-Zhong grow in Pei-Yu while Nian-Zhong bore with him all along the beautiful memories in Hai Nan with Jia-Qi.

What Nian-Zhong did not know was that Jia-Qi and Lian Rui came also to London because Jia-Qi’s stepfather tried to take advantage of her. Out of anger, Liang Rui and Jia-Qi went to London, originally wanting to turn to a friend. Unfortunately, the friend they were looking ran away. Jia-Qi could not but do hard manual work while Liang Rui indulged himself in gambling, alcohol and tobacco until the day where Nian-Zhong and Jia-Qi bumped into each other in London…

Their encounter in London after so many years brought up once more the flame in their hearts. Nian-Zhong could no longer hide his true feelings but to tell Pei Yu the truth and make a choice. Unfortunately, at this moment, Liang Rui had to flee from London because of debts. For that matter, Pei Yu was very generous to offer them airplane tickets. Jia-Qi was too much in a rush to say goodbye to Nian-zhong. On her way back home to fetch the cookie box bearing the souvenirs of the old times with Nian-Zhong, Jia-Qi had a car accident of which her name was listed on the casualty list…

Pei-Yu felt very guilty inside yet she took all her courage to comfort Nian-Zhong. Touched by Pei-Yu, after getting his master’s degree, they went back to Hai Nan and got engaged. He found a job in a hotel and was surprised to meet Nie-Kai who works in the same hotel. What was more surprising was the fact that Jia-Qi was not dead after all but paralyzed from the waist down…

Ignoring all this, Nie-Kai took care of Jia-Qi with all his heart while Nian-Zhong did not get over Jia-Qi at all. In the face of Pei-Yu’s tenderness, he could not but fret over destiny. On the other hand, Shi-Jie’s persistent pursuit of Pei-Yu further complicated the situation. Their interwoven love thus reaches its climax and unveils the feud between the Tang’s and Ling’s.
